Your Impeccable Touch

About Charlie

I love helping people discover things they didn’t know would be awesome. That’s a big part of why I became a sex & relationship coach.

I’ve been a sexuality educator since I was a sophomore at Brown University. Along the way, I volunteered at non-profits, sold sex toys at Good Vibrations, read everything about sex that I could find, attended plenty of workshops by many amazing sex educators, and taught quite a few classes of my own. I saw how much we need sexuality education for adults. People asked me all kinds of questions about their sex lives, and I knew that I needed to learn more to be able to give them what they were looking for.

In 2005, I received a PhD in adult sexuality education from The Union Institute and University. My research focused on helping people overcome sexual shame through effective and motivating adult education practices. When I graduated, I spent a few years teaching sexuality courses for people studying to become therapists. I enjoyed that, but it wasn’t quite what I was looking for.

When my book, The Ultimate Guide to Prostate Pleasure: Erotic Exploration for Men and Their Partners, was published, I left my day job at Good Vibrations and launched my coaching practice. While I'd been talking with people about their sex lives and relationships for over two decades, it had always been a sideline rather than my focus. After taking the sexological bodywork training, I started offering somatic and experiential coaching , in addition to my talk-based sessions.  I’ve continued writing, traveling and teaching workshops across North America, and speaking at universities and conferences. No matter where I am or what I’m doing, my mission is to help people find new ways to experience pleasure, have happy relationships that thrive, and explore new things that they didn’t know they would love.

“I love creating nourishing environments and experiences that bring you pleasure, adoration, and unconditional acceptance.”

My passion is serving my clients as a counselor, mentor, confidant and teacher of sexuality and spirituality.  My deepest intention is providing you with opportunities to access the wisdom of your sensual nature and the inner guidance of your body.  My skill with sexual and somatic education, as well as shamanic and Tantric practices, are woven together to immerse you in exquisite pleasure.

I was raised Catholic in the deep south and attended Catholic school for many years. In the sexually repressed culture I saw around me, the expectation was that everyone would be abstinent until marriage, especially the girls. I was told that even though sex might feel good in the moment, guilt and shame would quickly follow. I grew up feeling very confused and clueless about sexuality. My deep awareness that more was possible was the catalyst for my studying sexuality and gender studies, becoming a devotee of Tantric Spirituality and Shamanism, and dedicating myself to being a change agent for healthier sexual attitudes, experiences, and relationships.

Some of my many trainings and certifications include:

  • Massage therapy specializing in restorative bodywork
  • The Human Awareness Institute’s sex, love and intimacy curriculum
  • Landmark Education Curriculum for Living
  • PAX International’s “Celebrating Men, Satisfying Women” program,
  • Long-term apprenticeship with Dakini Shakti Malan, PhD., from Cape Town, South Africa
  • Life coaching certification from San Francisco State University
  • Professional certification from the Interchange Counseling Institute of San Francisco
  • Studies in the Hakomi method of somatic psychotherapy

Additionally, I have studied with a variety of sexual healers and practitioners, including Michael Harner, PhD, Kenneth Ray Stubbs, PhD, Steve & Lokita Carter, Dez Nichols, South Africa’s Advaita Tantra School, Cleo DuBois, Jaeleen Bennis, and Midori.

My personal interests include yoga practice and philosophy, massage, BioDanza, somatic education, hot tubs & saunas, foreign languages and travel.  My professional interests have been expanding to include advanced body work techniques, Byron Katie’s emotional transformation work, sexual awakening for women, Totality Therapy, attachment style therapy, and WePractice.

What I love most about my work is the opportunity to hold a nurturing and sacred space for my clients to feel accepted, embraced, and safe to explore those lesser known parts of their mind, body and emotions.
